Post Spring Break School Survival Guide

Although it pains me to say this, spring break is pretty much over for everyone now. If you haven’t had spring break yet, lucky you, but for most of us, spring break feels like a distant memory. The great thing about that is in about six or seven weeks, give or take, summer break will be here *que in the choir of angels.* I am beyond happy for a season I took for granted on the West Coast, because EVERYDAY was summer. Oh how I miss that. To speed up the end of the year process, I decided to make a list of seven tips that can get us all on the right track to finish out the year with a bang. It’s almost over, I promise. Even if you are no longer in school, these tips can apply to the workplace as well.

  • Reevaluate your goals
    • Think about what you want to achieve before the end of the school year. It is a 4.0? No C’s? Better attendance? Sleeping less in large lectures? Whatever your goal is, identify it. Write down the route to getting there and be realistic. Know exactly how many assignments/projects you have left in order to reach this goal. Know how well you must do to accomplish it.
  • Use a planner or journal to keep up
    • Utilize the calendar portion of the planner to jot down important dates. Write down daily assignments and check them off as you go along. Planners help me stay organized and up to date. Everything you need is in one handy dandy notebook.
  • Do things in advance
    • Take your free time to complete future tasks little by little. As time progresses you will be finishing more projects faster, and have more free time in the end.
  • Be prepared to put in work
    • No goal is achieved without work. If there is such a thing, let me know about it. Get ready for a few late nights of homework and studying. It happens to everyone. Nothing worth having comes easy.
  • Look forward to summer
    • Yes spring break is over, but summer is on the way. Plan fun summer activities, road trips, and time with friends. Make a summer wish list of things you want to do or a new summer wardrobe you plan to buy. I am so ready to trade in my boots for sandals, get a summer pedicure, and purchase a swimsuit.
  • Exercise
    • Exercising is one of the best ways to treat your body daily. You release loads of stress and get fit in the process. Everyone wants a nice, healthy summer body. The best time to prepare is now.
  • Stay motivated
    • You’re almost there, and the semester will be over before you know it. Follow these tips and next thing you know you’ll be walking out of your last final. Finish knowing you did the best you could. Don’t forget to reward yourself for a job well done. Work hard and play harder:)

If you are already doing all seven, amazing! Keep up the good work. If not, try to implement at least one into your daily life. They can save you a lot of headache, especially during finals week. Good luck on the rest of the semester.
