Power Three

Although Nordstrom published this fashion spread in their January catalog, this look feeds my pattern/texture infatuation right now. Love the bold nails and arm party.

Suit and Tie: The Men of the 2013 BET Awards

There are three days until the 2013 BET Awards. In honor of this star studded event and my love for men in suits (yummy), I wanted to show a few of the nominees and performers in their best threads. This has been my favorite post so far, and you'll soon see why.

GQ

Let's start with my FAVORITE (borderline obsession...sorry), Drake. He is up for Best Male Hip Hop Artist. I love his sleek, navy suit paired with a silky grey tie and pocket square to match. The thin gold bracelet adds a nice touch. Rooting for you Drizzy!

Robin Thicke's grey and black look is effortless. The black fedora, sneakers, and tee add a hint of cool I admire. His fashion is as smooth as his vocals.

Leave it to Miguel to make this Robin's Egg Blue suit look amazing. With a black timepiece, a few bracelets, and tuxedo inspired footwear, his look is perfection. Nominated this year for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and performing, I can only hope he won't crowd surf the award show audience (we all remember what happened last time). Fingers crossed for this talented singer.

If there was ever a suit that evoked summertime, this would be it. T.I. looks like he just returned from an awesome vacation on the French Riviera. I love the color combination and the polka dot detail on his pocket square. His performances are always fun to watch.

GQ
Last but not least is Mr. Suit and Tie himself, Justin Timerlake. He is always so dapper. Jessica Biel is one lucky lady. Like Miguel, JT is nominated and performing. It'll be a tough race for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist. May the best man win!

The BET Awards are so great because you have award show fashion plus some pretty epic performances. I personally can't wait to see Robin Thicke on stage. I hope Pharrell makes a guest appearance to perform Blurred Lines. This summer hit has been on repeat. I will definitely be tuning in to see what surprises they have in store. Who are you looking forward to seeing at this year's award show?

Mellow Yellow

Mellow Yellow

Yellow is such a exciting color. Anytime I see yellow, I become instantly happy. It's bright, youthful, and warm. Incorporate yellow into your next outfit with subtle accessories or go bold and wear an all yellow ensemble. This sunny hue never looked so good!

Art Imitates Life: Mary Katrantzou Resort 2014 Collection

Resort 2014 Collections are taking center stage on the runways in London, Milan, New York, and Paris. I decided to take a look via Style.com. They do a wonderful job of showcasing each show featuring top of the line coverage. Instead of searching for the well-known designers (Chanel, Burberry, Cavalli), I wanted to discover something new. Mary Katrantzou's Resort 2014 Collection is magnificent.

Katrantzou's collection is a true masterpiece. Vivid colors paint pictures of nature, art, and architecture using fashion as a canvas. Simple silhouettes are amplified through a vibrant color palette. I love the outfit combinations they styled. Soft, picturesque scenes in nature contrast rigid buildings, bridges and skyscrapers. With minimal makeup and loosely tousled hair, the clothes have a chance to shine.

I look forward to seeing more of her work in the near future. September is right around the corner, and I can't wait to see her new collection. She is definitely an inspiration. Check out more of Katrantzou on Style.com.

Power Three

Milly Resort 2014 Collection (Style.com)
This black and white look is mind-blowing. From the patterned jacket down to the leather pants, there is so much texture in one outfit. The yellow clutch adds a cute pop of color. Who said black and white had to be boring?

Power Three

I will be starting a new segment on my blog entitled, "Power Three." These are three things that have inspired me throughout the week. Hope they inspire you as much as they have inspired me.

This contemporary art piece, Too-Too, by Peter Clark is simply elegant. The intricate detailing on the skirt is filled with sheet music, magazine clippings, fabrics and maps. Multiple elements intertwine to create a beautiful ballet ensemble. I love the color contrast between the manila music pages and the pretty pink hues.

When I discovered this Janet Echelman sculpture I was amazed! Suspended above the sky in Amsterdam it is a sight to see. The primary colors are so vibrant and with a backdrop of the night sky it is breathtaking. I also love the golden light that radiates from the buildings. I definitely want to travel to Amsterdam to see this whimsical beauty.

Think positive thoughts about yourself at all times. These thoughts shape your past, present and future.

Welcome To the Jungle: Nasty Gal June LookBook

I haven't been on any summer vacations thus far, but Nasty Gal's June LookBook, Lush Life, transports me to a tropical island filled with beautiful clothing. The color palette includes forest green, teal, yellow and pops of neon; however, the prints dominate each look. Stripes, leopard, floral and tribal prints cover high waisted and maxi skirts, crop tops, and mini dresses. With a diverse blend of colors and patterns, Nasty Gal adds a little black and white to balance out each outfit. The Jungle Book has now been upgraded in a new, posh way. What are your favorite pieces from the June collection?

Vintage Brandy

There is nothing I love more than vintage pieces. A little something old mixed with something new makes for a great outfit. I fell in love with this vintage inspired Brandy Melville top when I spotted it on their Instagram. It will probably be one of the most versatile pieces in my closet. Dress it up with a high waisted skirt or down with denim. Because it is such a neutral tee, pair it with fun printed pants. Can't wait to wear this gem out on the town!

All About "T"

For my first blog post, I really wanted to introduce myself to the blogging world. Here are 7 fun facts about yours truly...
  1. Favorite fragrance: Paris Amour by Bath & Body Works. I INSTANTLY fell in love when I got this scent as a gift last Christmas. It's sweet, flirty yet sophisticated. I will wear this for as long as I live.
  2. I'm addicted to online shopping. One of my favorite things is to receive mail so this is the perfect way to treat myself.
  3. With that being said, Nasty Gal is my sweetest online addiction. Let me stop here because I could go on for days.
  4. If I could eat one food for the rest of my life it would be sushi. Love, love, love it! If you know of any epic sushi spots let me know.
  5. I learned how to play the Viola and joined the orchestra in the 4th grade. I continued to play throughout middle school up until my freshman year of high school.
  6. I have lived in every region of the United States, but have never traveled outside North America. Traveling to Europe is the first item on my bucket list.
  7. Some people are afraid of spiders, birds and other bugs. I'm extremely afraid of opossums!!! They are like huge rats...I'm not fond of rats either.
